Welcome to tanJennts
A rebrand of Coffee Marketing because tanJennts is about more than marketing.
tanJennts is only tangentially tied to coffee marketing
It’s kind of about marketing but not really. I write from the perspective of someone in the specialty coffee industry and for those in the same industry. But, those who work as writers, marketers, and freelancers in other industries also find the newsletter useful. The topics I like to cover include: coffee marketing, freelancing, cultural identity, and more.
My free biweekly posts include:
a piece of original writing
quick updates about social media network news
digital marketing articles
other interesting articles that I’ve read
I always end with a plant update from my container garden
To get a sense of what I like to write about, here are some of my favorites:
Do what you love and it’ll still feel like work — An essay about the glorification of “doing what you love.”
Nostalgia in marketing — How the psychology of nostalgia is used in marketing.
F**k email etiquette — An essay on how we should stop putting all those niceties at the beginning of every email.
Please just let me be mediocre — An essay on the pressures of being really good.
How to prepare for a press interview — Useful tips on how a business owner can prep for that press interview they’re about to have.
Some notes:
Before May 25, 2022: newsletter sends that were imported from Revue, my previous newsletter platform. I am slowly making my way through six years of newsletter issues and reformatting the ones that have original writing in them. So if you open up a post that has some weird formatting, it was the import.
The biggest difference between tanJennts and Coffee Marketing is that I’m committing to writing one original piece per issue. I will still link out to my bylined articles but even in those cases, there will still be a fresh article to read.
