Free brainstorming sessions + more coffee marketing ideas

TL;DR I’m doing free 15-min brainstorming session consults for coffee businesses/organizations affected by COVID-19! Fill out the form here.
In full honesty, I’m going nuts over here. SF has extended the shelter-in-place order to May 1. Today is around week 5 or 6 of being by myself and Zoey (my dog). I haven’t hugged a human in that same amount of time.
This being said, I have never spent so much time on calls. I’ve gone live on Instagram three times and spoken for the first time to people two of those times. I’ve jumped onto Zoom Coffee Breaks. I’m about to plan a virtual birthday party in May (have to have something to look forward to, right?).
And it’s nothing compared to what small business owners & our healthcare workers are going through. In my Thoughts section, I’m sharing how I’ve seen others pivot in these times.

Because I’m not actively seeking clients right now, I have a little free time to spare and give back. I’m releasing this first to you all, my newsletter subscribers.
If you’re a coffee business or organization who has been or will be affected by COVID-19 and you’d like to bounce potential marketing ideas off of me, I am offering free 15-min brainstorming sessions. For all of my services, I offer a 20-min consult call but that tends to be more of making sure we’re both good fits for each other than an idea generation time. This brainstorming session, on the other hand, will take you directly from filling out the form to booking a virtual Zoom call with me.
Some highlights:
  • Direct booking on my schedule
  • Some extended hours to accommodate different time zones
  • Recorded & the recording will be emailed to you
Again, to book with me, you just need to fill out the form and sign up for a time slot.
Now, time for some inspiration that I’ve seen other businesses do (I will also add these to my marketing in a time of crisis blog post:
  • Everyman Espresso is sending coffee to essential workers- you can also sign up if you’re an essential worker. is a local org doing something similar.
  • 100% of Standart subs are going to the cafe of your choice (you can also sign up as a cafe)
  • Create a local Coffee Break to stay connected to fellow pros.
  • Daily Driver SF created new meal kits to make grilled cheese sandwiches at home. I’ve also seen others make pantry boxes.
  • Lady Falcon Coffee Club started doing free 1-day local deliveries, giving their workers something to do instead of being laid off.
  • Olympia Coffee created a Tip Jar coffee and raised $20k for their staff

Instagram added: co-watching videos while on a group IG call. It’s testing: a new option to limit sensitive content, selling gift cards via your profile, disappearing messages option, and adding hashtags & locations to highlights’ covers.
Facebook added: video series (like a tv show season) and more video upgrades, new experiments section in Ads, and more robust features to livestreaming (coming in the next few weeks). It’s testing: a way to connect brand loyalty programs to Facebook activity.
